Our Alumni

Congratulations to our amazing Alumni, working with you has brought joy and great experiences to this team. We don't know what this team would be without you. Thank you for your hard work and dedication towards this team. We hope that your future sees success, and we can't wait to see where you venture off to! Thanks for being a part of Team Ironic.

I originally joined robotics because I wanted to do an extracurricular. However, I at the time I didn't realize how many friends and memories I would make on the team. I was primarily an engineer and driver for the team. I not only learned about STEM, but also lots about working together with new people. If I had to choose one aspect of FTC which was my favorite, I would probably pick driving. It brought the most memories with the long nights we spent practicing strategy and the intense matches at competition. I chose Computer Science and Software Engineering as my major and minor respectively and I will be studying at the University of West Florida.

I was a member of Team Ironic before I became a captain, specifically working on the hardware/mechanical aspects of our robot! I owe a lot to the team, including an engineering internship at RND Automation, the ability to work strongly with a group of people, strong leadership skills and a passion for engineering. I’m currently enrolled at Florida International University as a mechanical engineering major and hope to continue working with robots as a career!

I joined the team for media/management! I’m active on social media in my own daily life so I was pretty familiar with the technology. This year was so much fun, getting to collaborate with not only everyone in our team, but others as well. It was cool seeing the robot come to life over the year but it was even better seeing everyone come together. I made so many new friends while also be exposed to new things! I chose nursing because I’ve always been grateful to the healthcare workers in my life who’ve gotten me here today. I want to work in pediatrics so I can work with kids while also pursuing a career in health science.

My experience on the team was nothing but fun. I found it enjoyable to come in every week to work on the robot and practice with my friends and coaches. I learned a lot while I was on the team, and it’s definitely an experience that I will always look fondly on. I was an engineer and a driver during my time on the team, however I will admit that in my second year I definitely started leaning towards mostly driving and practicing for that most of the time. I would still take apart pieces of the robot and put them back on most of the time as well. I chose anthropology because I want to be an archeologist once I get my degree, I was originally going to go only for an archeology degree, however I was given advice to go for a double major of geology and anthropology in order to get more experience and a wider range of job options. I want to become an archeologist because I love ancient history particularly ancient Greece and Rome.

I was a member of the team from 2019 to 2023. I became a manager my last two years specifically working in outreach and coding. I occasionally updated the robotics team old website. I owe the team a lot including a internship from FUNducation, i am currently a student at SCF and hope to go into cyber security, I am also continuing to help Ironic reach the stars as a mentor. Full STEAM ahead Ironic!

My experience with Ironic was full of educational exposure, from work with people, to new skills like CAD and programming to add to my resume. As a team member of Ironic, I led the Engineering and CAD branch of the team, working to expand our teams abilities, especially in terms of custom parts design. I chose FIT for their rigorous academics, large workshop, and internship program. Thank you Team Ironic for helping me get where I am today!

I was a member on the team when it initially started in 2018 and took on a more manger role for the next years until I graduated in 2021. I'm currently a Computer Science major at the University of Central Florida. I've previously interned at Meta as a Meta University Engineering Intern and an incoming Full-Stack Software Engineer Intern at Cisco Meraki.

Being a part of Team Ironic has given me the confidence and skills for my future (hopefully) career as an engineer. I first joined to confirm that engineering was something I truly wanted to pursue and the team has done that and more for me. Working hands-on with our robot has shown me how to think like an engineer and develop ideas for a common goal.
This hands-on approach is something I really value, which is part of the reason I chose Florida Poly as my university. I chose the Mechanical Engineering path with an aerospace concentration to give me a well-rounded approach to engineering while still learning the specifics in what I ultimately want to do, which is Aerospace Engineering. Overall, I don’t think I would’ve had the confidence or preparation I have now for my university path without Team Ironic.
